A PRIMARY School based near Cirencester has received more than £30,000 in donations over the past three years from an entrepreneur.

Chris Morling, founder and CEO of Cirencester based financial comparison site Money.co.uk, has once again made a generous donation to North Cerney Primary School.

For the past three years, Chris has given each of his team £5,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.

Laura Rettie and Abi Francis have both chose the school for the past three years running, totalling up to £33,000.

“I’m an ex-pupil of this beautiful rural school and I can't praise it enough," said Laura.

"Many of my best friends are people I met there and we've all gone on to achieve great things. "Money is increasingly tight in schools and every penny is sacred.

" A donation of this size is hugely appreciated and directly felt by all the pupils who attend. "It’s a joy to see the children benefit.”

Chris said; “When you’ve got a successful business you have a responsibility which extends beyond the business.

“We’re lucky enough to be very profitable and donating to schools like North Cerney is absolutely the right thing to do.

Executive headteacher of North Cerney CofE Primary School, Suki Pascoe added: “This amount of money is huge for us, it’s like winning the lottery!

"We’re so grateful to Chris and to Laura and Abi for nominating us.

“Primary Schools have a vital role in improving social mobility, raising aspiration, broadening horizons and connecting children’s learning to their future lives.

“This injection of money will enable us to completely re-vamp our IT in the school putting future technology in the hands of all our children and ensuring they are fully prepared for their lives as lifelong learners in a digital world.”
