The NSPCC has released a 'desperate' appeal for new volunteers to join their fundraising team to help protect children from abuse in the community.

Fundraisers involved in the children's charity help to raise money for the NSPCC and are looking for passionate new members to join their team.

Chair of the Swindon and North Wiltshire Branch, Marilyn Kempshall says: “We’re desperately in need of new volunteers to be part of our team and we’d be delighted to hear from anyone who’d be happy to help, no matter how much time you have to offer.

"Whether you are college age, retired, or somewhere in between, volunteering here is a really good way of meeting new friends and have fun whilst doing something that helps children.”

Services featured in the Swindon and North Wiltshire branch include therapeutic support to children who are victims of sexual abuse and extra support for expectant parents.

Schools in the area also have services running such as 'Speak Out Stay Safe' assemblies for primary schools to help children understand the types of abuse and to get help if they need it.
