A GROUP of 1500 Scouts and Guides will descend on Cirencester Park for two national events.

Strategy and Evolution are events for at 10-25 year olds aimed to develop skills for life in young people from across the country.

Strategy, began today and finished on Sunday, June 23, is aimed at 10 to 14 year olds who will go on a route around the park completing different challenges to earn points.

The team with the most points after 8 hours in the woods will win the coveted Strategy prize.

Evolution, which takes place on Thursday, June 28 to Saturday, June 30, will see a group of 14-25 year olds is a 15 mile hike around the Cotswold’s with fewer, but larger challenges, along the way.

The aim is to get the quickest time around the course, with winners in a range of different age categories.

Event organiser, Lewis Dangerfield, said: "With these events, we aim to provide young people aged 10-25 a fun and challenging weekend, allowing them to learn and test new skills, while meet with their peers.

Lewis added: “Our aim has been to challenge teams of young people to compete against their peers using skills they have learnt in Scouting and Guiding.

"We are taking them out of their comfort zone, if they get lost or struggle along the way it’s good, as its one of the best ways to learn.

"I would also like to extend my thanks to Earl Bathurst and our other supporters, including Severn Trent Water."
