Withington: Maple House, fell - Norway Spruce, pollard - Ash tree Norway Spruce - to allow light in the garden as blocks afternoon sun, Ash - blocking light & competing with large Beech tree, pollard will allow Beech to have more light and become dominant tree (neither tree has sufficient light due to close proximity), Ash has also become dangerous as large branches have fallen in winds and snow.
