A FORMER championship footballer was arrested following an incident in Swindon town centre this morning.

Christopher Zebroski, who is 31 years old and lives in Malmesbury, was charged by police for driving a vehicle in a public place without due care and attention, and failing to stop a vehicle when required.

The professional footballer, who has previously played for teams such as Millwall, Bristol Rovers, Oxford and Cheltenham Town, was found by officers just before 5am this morning, after they responded to a incident in the town.

Zebroski, who began his youth career at Cirencester Town Academy, allegedly failed to stop his car for police officers when they located him on Salisbury Street.

He was arrested, taken into custody and charged.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the footballer has been released on bail and will appear before Swindon Magistrates Court on July 11.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle being driven in the town centre area, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the Mitsubishi Colt, being driven between 4.40am and 5am, should call police on 101, quoting log number 33 of June 20.
