A COTSWOLD school has received a national award for their fundraising events.

After receiving a regional award for over a decade of fundraising, Meadowpark School and Nursery has been recognised at the NSPCC’s Childhood Champion Awards for its annual bike ride.

Meadowpark were named as one of the NSPCC's outstanding schools of the year, an award only given to give schools in the UK.

Each year children between the ages of two and four raise money for the NSPCC, by riding their bikes, trikes and scooters round a marked course on the school’s soft playground.

The total raised at the event varies between £700 and £900 annually.

Headteacher Rajvinder Kular accepted the award at a special ceremony at Banking Hall, London and received a certificate from the Countess of Wessex, who is patron of the NSPCC.

The outstanding school award was one of 12 award categories honouring the commitment, creativity and contribution of NSPCC volunteers.

Mrs Kular said: “We are absolutely honoured to receive the award.

"We love supporting such a worthwhile charity.

"Come rain or shine, our annual NSPCC bike ride has never been cancelled yet!"
