A SCHOOL in Tetbury have taken a step closer to the refurbishment of their school hall.
St Mary’s CEVA Primary School is trying to raise £8,000 for work to be done on the roof that is integral to the school.
Coventry Building Society in Tetbury have kindly donated £1,661 this week from their PTA account to the school which will go towards the much needed project.
Just last month, parents, staff and governors took part in the Westonbirt 10k race and raised an amazing £1,900.
Installation of new LED lighting, replacing ceiling tiles, hanging bright new curtains and re-decorating the parquet floor and walls are part of the plans.
Pupils from the school use the hall on a daily basis for PE, collective worship, lunch time meals, Breakfast Club and a wide range of after school clubs.
Throughout the year is it used for school productions and plays.
The hall is also the weekly meeting place for community groups including Guides, Brownies, Rainbows, Beavers and on a regular basis various church groups
The Diocese of Gloucester has secured, from the Department for Education, a significant proportion of the funds required to transform the hall.
Despite the funding from the Department for Education, the school still need to raise £8,000 towards the project.
St Mary's need to reach their target by the school holidays so that the work can be completed during the summer break.
