CHEDWORTH are hosting their first ever Midsummer Run next week.

Taking place on Thursday, June 21, at 7pm, the very scenic route is approximately 10k and is over 90 per cent off road.

Sponsored by BPS Merchants in Building, the event will have both individual and team prizes to include many age categories.

The event will be based at the Beech Walk ground of Chedworth Cricket Club.

Refreshments and a BBQ will be available for all runners and spectators.

Spokesperson Andy Lait said: "We are very excited to be offering this new event in the local athletics calendar. "The course is very rural and should provide a good challenge for runners. "Entries are available on the day but are cheaper in advance so get in early!'

So far to the surprise of organisers, more than 65 per cent of entrants have been female runners.

"We have been really surprised, and delighted, by this response," Andy added.

"We had anticipated that male runners would predominate and this shows that running has broken across all boundaries.

"Further entries from males, females or, indeed, transgender runners would be most welcome."
