TWO ceremonies will be held to celebrate this year's Armed Forces Day in the Cotswolds.

Both ceremonies were well attended last year as people gathered to pay their respects to past and present service personnel who have helped to make this country safe and prosperous.

On Monday, June 25, Cotswold District Council will be celebrating in both the north and south of the district.

A special flag raising ceremony will take place at the council's headquarters on Trinity Road at 10am, followed by a similar event at the Moreton Area Centre at 12pm.

At both events, council chairman Cllr Julian Beale will make a short speech before raising the flag.

Those present will be given the opportunity to show their support for the work of the Army, Navy and RAF at both venues.

Both ceremonies will be attended by community representatives of the armed forces, nearby schools, and senior officials from the council.

Since its introduction in 2009, Armed Forces Day has become a national institution.

This is the fifth year running that the council has staged a ceremony at Moreton as well as Cirencester.
