IT IS understood that the Street Fair day made excellent profits for the organisers with considerable funds going to the upkeep of All Hallows Church.

The Duck Race also had record takings and the profit from that event will be shared with various village organisations and clubs. Applications for these grants must be lodged before Friday, July 17.

Please submit your claim by email to Katharine@dreamteamtv.co.uk including the name of the person or organisation, short details of the item or project you require help with and the sum you would like to receive.

AFTER many years of negotiation by Parish Council with various authorities, work to the rebuilding of the river bank in Bow Wow is now well advanced. Care has been taken to ensure that the wildlife inhabiting that stretch of bank will have a suitable environment in which to thrive.

LAST Saturday the South Cerney Bowls Club hosted a match with the Porter Bowls team from West Oxfordshire. The extensive works carried out by team members and by contractors during the close season have greatly improved the green. The home team won three of the four rinks and the match by a useful margin. New players are always welcomed including absolute beginners. All that is needed is to wear a pair of heel-less shoes- the club will loan the other equipment and give tuition. The Club meets at the green between the church yard and the Bow Wow on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 5.45pm and on Saturday afternoons from 1.45pm. Just turn up and get involved.

THE Village Hall Club meets on Friday, June 15 when the full audio/visual system will be used to demonstrate its new features. To see what it is all about, come along and be a temporary member for just £3 a meeting. Doors and licensed bar open from 7pm with entertainment starting at 7.30pm. Call me for more information.

ONE of the best supported sections at the annual South Cerney Show being held on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 are the photography competitions. This year the subjects in colour are “A Memorial” (2018 is the centenary of the Armistice, WW1); “Reflections”; “Cerney in the Snow”; “Shopping” and in Black and White “Weather”. Schedules for the entire show can be obtained from most local shops.

ALTHOUGH the South Cerney Art Group do nor resume their Monday evening sessions until September 10, they will be holding a series of “Painting Days” through the summer. These sessions are open to anyone of any level of ability. Please call Janet 860579 for more details.

THE ever-increasing pile of bulky green waste at the Upper Up Community Composting site is due to be shredded by contractors on Wednesday, July 11.

The contractor cannot come before then due to other commitments. Please delay any works which will include your bringing large woody material to the site until after the second week of July. In the meantime, we do still require your soft green garden waste but please ensure it is deposited in the correct reception bin.

Currently, there is no compost available for collection but two fresh bins should be opened in a couple weeks or so.
