A CARER will be jumping out of a plane at 14,000ft for charity next month after supporting a child whose mum was battling for her life.

Taylor Wall, of Manor Farm, Lechlade, will bravely jump out the plane on July 15 to raise money and awareness for Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

In September 2015, Lorna Pugh, 34, gave birth to her new son Ollie, and after a tricky start to life, she settled down as a family.

Lorna had previously been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2011 but had always managed to keep the symptoms under control using medication and extensive monitoring.

Just 10 months later, in July 2016, after weeks of pain and suffering, she had to leave her baby and be admitted to hospital for emergency, life saving surgery to remove her bowel.

After nine hours in surgery, she was taken to intensive care where she fought for her life.

With Lorna in hospital for 21 days and her husband Daniel still working to provide for the family, Taylor, Ollie’s nursery school carer, was left to look after him.

Lorna said: “During my stay in hospital, I only saw my son twice.

“It was heartbreaking for us both as he was worried by the tubes and wires that were keeping me alive and I was too weak to be able to reach out to him to hold him, without question, it was the hardest period of my life.

“We were supported so wonderfully by The Manor Farm and its staff, who went out of their way to offer additional child care during this time as well as emotional support and encouragement.”

Taylor was keen to understand the condition and could see the impact it was having on their life.

A few months ago, Taylor contacted Lorna and asked if she could do a skydive to raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

“I was so touched and humbled that she would do such a selfless and incredible thing for our family and thanks are not enough,” Lorna added.

“We will be there on the July 15, standing at the land site, holding onto each other so grateful to all be together and I am pretty sure that my eyes will leak with emotion.”

So far Taylor has raised £475 of her £1,000 target. You can donate at https://bit.ly/2LQUEnb
