BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson was born and raised in the Cotswolds. He took over the tenancy of Bemborough Farm, Kineton, near Stow-on-the-Wold from his father. He talks to us about his life in the area.

Favourite restaurant in the Cotswolds?

We've got three fantastic pubs locally to us here. There's the halfway house in Kineton, the Hollow Bottom in Giting Power and the Plough at Ford, and they're really good eateries that we go to as a family for a Sunday Roast or good pub meal, but there are some fantastic high-end restaurants in the Cotswolds as well.

Favourite shop in the Cotswolds?

There's a really good gift shop in Stow-on-the-Wold called Mash and they have a sister shop in Chipping Norton. They sell really good gifts; a lovely shop in the town. If I was to go clothes shopping for a shop or a pair of jeans I'll go to a shop in Cheltenham called Monty Smith.

Favourite day out?

The Cotswold Farm Park! I'm travelling away a lot filming, farming and corporate work, but I love to be at home whenever I can. Just going out on the farm with the family and dogs is great. I love being in the Cotswolds fields, and love being on the farm. We run a tourist enterprise called the Cotswold Farm Park so really I tend not to go for a day out in the Cotswolds. If I'm in the Cotswolds I stay home.

Favourite local landmark?

There's a clamp of tree's that not a lot of people know about at the top of the paddock near my house called Buttington Clump. It's a clump of beech trees and you can see it from miles around. Ever since we were little and were driving home having been away with my mom and dad me and my sisters would say, 'There's Buttington Clump we're nearly home'. Even now when I'm driving home now, you can see it from all the approaching roads so then I know I'm nearly home.

Your proudest achievement?

I'm very proud to have a lovely family. I've got two wonderful children. Ella, who's 20, and Alfie, who's 15, and a gorgeous partner, Charli. I'm very proud that we've got a lovely family unit, but on a much more personal level I was delighted I was able to succeed the tenancy from my father. He opened up Cotswold Farm Park in 1971, and ran the commercial farm, and I managed to succeed him. I now run the farm and park with my business partner. I had always wanted to be a farmer since I was a little boy, so to be able to take on the farm as my own tenancy to run was a great achievement.

Favourite holiday destination?

Within the UK, and because we're landlocked in the Cotswolds I love to visit the coast. I love visiting the sea, the Devon and Cornwall coast and Hebrides in the west coast of Scotland are absolutely stunning. As far as going abroad, as a family we try to travel to all sorts of places and experience different cultures. I don't have a particular favourite abroad, but I love the diversity of the world. If I ever was going to emigrate then I'd go to New Zealand, I think it's the most fantastic country. I finished agricultural college and travelled to Australia and New Zealand and played rugby in New Zealand and met some fantastic people. I went there with Countryfile too and it reminded me how beautiful the countryside is. I see it as a land of opportunity, so if I was a young man it would be tempting to move there.

What do you do to relax?

I enjoy spending time with the family and I enjoy watching sport. I used to play a lot of rugby so I go and watch Gloucester sometimes. I also watch my son playing sport for his school, but to relax I generally will just spend time on the farm walking with the dogs with the family. I don't have a specific hobby really.

Best thing about living in the Cotswolds?

It's so beautiful. I love the gentle rolling hills and the magnificent views. It has a gentleness to it. The drystone walls, the limestone of the Cotswolds is warm all year round. A lot of the stone that you see is dark, but that Cotswold stone is a warm yellow colour all year round and it's such a beautiful place to live and work.

Cotswolds' best kept secret?

I suppose people forget about the little hidden villages like Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter and Chipping Campden. There's some beautiful Cotswold villages that people sometimes forget exist.
