TWO Tetbury dads will cycle 258 miles in 24 hours to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.

Daniel Boulton and Fran Eddolls will set off next Friday, June 1, from Tetbury before arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris just 24 hours later.

They will be riding in memory of loved ones, for Dan, in memory of his auntie Caroline who passed away last year, and Fran, in memory of his wife's Grandfather Michael who passed away in 2016.

The event has been organised by Cirencester Relay For Life to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

It isn't the first time Dan has undertaken such a challenge, in 2014 he set off with two others with a similar target, to cycle from Cirencester to Paris in 24 hours.

Having suffered minor problems along the way, they could only make Paris in 27 hours, but they did raise over £2,000 for Alzheimer's Research.

For Dan however, the failure to do the challenge in 24 hours has bothered him ever since.

With his two previous team mates injured, surprisingly offers were few and far between, but for Fran, a specialist in 24 hour solo endurance races, and a close friend of Dan's.

Months of planning have gone into the challenge, setting out the route, choosing which equipment to take, putting together a training plan as well as booking a hotel, ferry and the Eurostar for the return journey.

The monumental challenge will see the pair cycle 258 miles unaided, with nothing but a short ferry trip to rest up.
