THE May meeting of women’s community group Ciren Belles welcomed Elizabeth Breakspear-Jones to tell them more about her work with young families through the Children’s Centre.
Elizabeth’s passionate dedication to making a difference shone through in her account of how working in a playgroup inspired her to retrain to work directly with vulnerable families.
In the midst of national cuts to funding and diminishing resources, Elizabeth shone a light on how the Centres offer a lifeline to families struggling to cope, for all kinds of reasons.
The Belles got to see the positive side of her challenging role as she shared with them a couple of heart-wrenching and ultimately heart-warming stories of the difference the Children’s Centres are able to make.
Elizabeth’s uplifting account showed how, by offering parenting classes, practical advice or sometimes just a sympathetic shoulder to lean on, lives can be turned around and given hope for a brighter future.
Next month, on Thursday, June 21, Ciren Belles will join with their sibling group The Cirencester Parish Men’s Group for a picnic – whatever the weather!
