TOWNS and villages across the Cotswolds will be flying the flag and hanging out the bunting this Saturday as they celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Pubs, hotels and village halls will be opening their doors to show the ceremony, which starts at 12pm.

Street parties will be taking place in six locations across Gloucesterhire, with Cecily Hill in Cirencester and Katherine's Walk in Lechlade preparing to bring their street together.

Villagers in Coates near Cirencester will get into the Royal Wedding spirit early by turning their monthly Community, Coffee, Cake & Chat in the village hall on Tuesday into a Royal Wedding special celebration.

Jan Edmonds, who organises the event, said: "Our monthly coffee morning brings all cross sections of the community together and this time we thought we would make it a little bit special and a bit of fun with a Royal theme."

Decorations will be staying up in Coates, as the village will be pulling out the stops on Saturday, with an event at the village hall including a barbecue and mini beer festival.

The after wedding party in Poole Keynes advertises "wedding attire optional" and in Kempsford village there is an entire day of celebrations, starting with a "Royal" fun run at 9.30am, with a live screening of the wedding and songs from the Kempsford School Choir.

Football fans are also well catered for in the village, with a live-screening of the FA Cup Final from 3pm.

The event finishes with a concert at St Mary's Church featuring Cirencester Male Voice Choir.

Hotels and pubs, including The Tavern in Kemble, and The Greyhound in Siddington will host special events on Saturday and The Kings Head in Cirencester and Whately Manor near Malmesbury will be offering Afternoon Tea packages fit for royalty.

Residents in Tetbury, which has strong links through Highgrove to the Royal Family, will be able to watch the events unfold on a big screen at The Goods Shed.
