REVIEW: Mela Guitar Quartet and Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble at The Sundial Theatre

I DO not think that anyone could have failed to enjoy the concert at the Sundial Theatre on Saturday, which was headed by the Mēla Guitar Quartet.

However, they were joined in the first half by a large group of aspiring guitar players called the Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble.

These children meet most Saturdays in Cirencester to learn and play. It was nice that they were given the opportunity of performing on stage giving backing to a professional group and this can only give them more confidence in the future.

The programme included and eclectic mix of music from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No 6 to The Theme from Star Wars.

It was also nice to learn that the Mēla Group were able to impart some of their knowledge during the day in the form of a workshop.

We can only hope that the Corinium Players go from strength to strength on the back of a successful concert.
