JUDY MURRAY ran a tennis clinic for members of Cirencester Tennis Club.

The tennis coach and mother of professional tennis players Andy and Jamie Murray ran the three hour session on Saturday, April 21 after a member of Cirencester Tennis Club won the session through a charity auction bid.

Martin Leay had been to Andy Murray’s live event for the past two years, a charity tennis event in Glasgow raising money for Unicef and Young Peoples Futures.

Inspired by Andy’s event, Martin bid and won a three hour coaching session with Judy Murray for the club at a charity auction.

Martin said: “I was inspired by Andy’s sessions, where he made over £1,000,000 for charity having fun and training people.

“The day was so much fun and by far exceeded my expectations, Judy was a real inspiration.

“I want to issue a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped, all the cake makers and everyone who helped organise the event.

“And a massive thank you to Adam Swan the head coach at Cirencester Tennis Club.”

Over 70 members took part on the day.

Club chairman at Cirencester Tennis Club, Rachel Snowball, said: “It’s a very special day for the club.

“To see so many adults and juniors take part and be inspired by Judy is wonderful and to raise over £2,000 for UNICEF at the same time is just incredible.

“Not only have we raised money but we have had great fun and many members have learnt new skills on court.

“Judy was absolutely delightful and a great sport, making everyone feel involved.”

"It was very generous of her to give up some of her personal to make this day happen”
