AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman from Malmesbury is organising a Cancer Charity Gala Ball in South Cerney.

Mollie Reynolds is hosting the ball to raise money for Cancer Research UK, with the disease close to home.

Mollie’s mum Nicola Reynolds, was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37, with Mollie aged just seven and her brother Sam only nine.

Nicola fought and beat the disease but just four years later she relapsed with Mollie only 11 and Sam only 13.

Thankfully Nicola beat cancer twice but the memories of the ordeal will stay with Mollie forever, describing the feeling as ‘indescribable’.

Mollie said: “Having the incredible support and love from my dad, Andrew and all our family and friends made it that little less painful.

“My nan sadly passed away just two months before I was born at the age of only 49.

“Both my nan and my mum were at a very young age to get Cancer.

“These two ladies are the reason I am doing this and have done so much for Cancer Research UK in the past.”

Mollie and the rest of her family have always done everything they can to raise money for the charity.

Mollie added: “We have done numerous amounts of Race For Life, we have done a 10 mile ribbon walk, Pretty Muddy, Relay For Life 24 hour walk, the Moon Walk which is marathon distance and my mum herself abseiled down the side of the Great Western Hospital in Swindon dressed as Mummy Christmas!

“We also donate every month to Cancer Research UK.”

Now Mollie is holding a ball to raise even more money.

The event will be held on August 18 from 7pm to midnight at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel, South Cerney.

It will be a black tie event with a hot food buffet, disco and raffle.

Tickets are £45 for a single adult ticket, £400 for a table of 10.
