LAST Sunday marked the official opening of the new ‘Lechlade Barrow Skate Park’. At midday there was an hour of free skating where the professional riders mingled with the local skateboarders.

At 1pm Steve Trotter said a few words about the project on behalf of the Town Council followed by a welcome and thanks by Simon Paul.

The weather held off long enough for local families, council and trustee organisers, grant and funding providers and a number of expert skate boarders to enjoy the new park and refreshments.

Well-known names in the Skate boarding world Sean Smith, Zeta Rush and Rob Selley, who also represented Gravity the park builders, along with others including Matt Talbot from Decimal Skate-shop in Cirencester were present and video interviewed by Brett of the Skateboarding Show.

All were impressed with the design of the park.  The highlight of the event was the local scooter riders and skate boarders using the park alongside the experts picking up tips and hints as well as a short high intensity demonstration from the experts.

LECHLADE Riverfolk Acoustic will meet tomorrow, Friday, April 27 at 8 pm in the Creel Bar of the Trout Inn. All players and listeners are welcome: £2 contact moira@take2-music.co.uk
