DESPITE it being the hottest London Marathon on record, more than 40,000 people took part in Sunday's race.

750,000 spectators cheered on the runners who battled the 24 degree Celsius temperatures to complete the 26.2 mile course.

Mark Manley and Andy Sampson represented the Cirencester RSE at the London Marathon, with Mark completing the course in three hours, 43 minutes and 57 seconds and Andy in four hours, nine minutes.

Susan Rawle and Fiona Dougan from the Tetbury Dolphins running club helped raised £2,646.78 for RFU Injured Players Foundation.

Robert Strannix and his sister Carly Strannix-Kerr ran in memory of Robert's son Byron who died of sudden infant death syndrome. They ran in aid of the Lullaby Trust and raised £2,100.

Elsewhere, Phil Illing from Cirencester, raised £1,700 for Children with Cancer as he completed the marathon in four hours and 17 minutes. 

Gary Wood, 45, ran in for Arthiritis Research UK for his granddaughter who was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthiritis and managed to raise £2,750 while Rob Lees, Cirencester, completed the Marathon in five hours as he supported Breast Cancer Haven.
