CIRENCESTER'S newest care home is taking part in National Care Home Open Day.

Stratton Court, ran by Aura care Living and only opened in March are joining thousands of care homes across the UK welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their communities.

Care Home Open Day runs every year and was established to bring communities into care homes to have a better understanding of the work they do.

Lisa Strevens Stratton Court manager said: “This is all about showing people what excellent care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of local communities, developing relationships across the generations.

“We believe that this is a truly special care home and we are looking forward to welcoming all for this special open day.”

This year Care Home Open Day falls on the Queen’s Birthday as well as National Tea Day so there will be live music, face painting and a special afternoon tea open to all.

Stratton Court events manager Heather Robinson added: “We have music from the fabulous Ruby Lamont and our face painter is 14 year old Poppy Saunders.

"She is doing the face painting to raise funds towards a volunteering opportunity in Ghana.

"This is organised by CDPS and the charity African Adventures which will enable her to assist in a primary school out there.

The event gets underway on April 21 at 1:30pm to 3pm and entry is free.
