ALDI is launching discounted horse riding lessons alongside its new range of equestrian clothing.

This comes after the launch of their 'rein it in' campaign, in a bid to make the sport more accessible to all.

According to figures from Aldi one fifth of ex-riders stopped due to costs, this comes as no surprise when horse owners incur a maintenance cost of between £3-10,000 per year alone.

The German supermarket chain is offering the lessons at two prestigious horse riding schools in the UK, with prices starting at £21 per lesson.

In fact, Aldi’s lessons will provide a 30 per cent discount on standard rates, particularly appealing to parents who have been unable to introduce their kids to the sport due to expense.

Aldi's discount horse riding lessons in action

To begin taking lessons, head over to Summerhouse Equestrian in Cheltenham, or Parbold Equestrian in Lancashire, where lessons will be available to purchase from April 8.

Lessons will see riders taught a range of skills including learning how to mount and dismount a horse, developing balance, steering and learning how to ask the horse to walk, trot, canter and halt.

Teaching these lessons is stage 4 BHS equine excellence professional Nicola Bennett, who has been teaching for 40 years.

Speaking of the initiative Mrs. Bennett, said: “We know that riding is now losing the 'elitist' tag, and through Aldi's partnership people of all ages can come and have a go, or return to riding.

"We have seen an increased interest in our lessons over the years, but historically, it has been seen by many as an expensive hobby.
