A SCHOOL in Cirencester has donated their old-style uniform to other schools within Europe who may need it.

Cirencester Kingshill School decided to donate the uniform after launching a new school uniform in September 2017.

The pupil lead school council opted for an introduction of the blazer, and a change to school jumpers rather than sweatshirts,

Due to these changes, the stock of the old-style uniform was surplus to requirements.

Mrs Taylor from the school finance team contacted Andrew Henderson at Fast UK.

Fast UK are a UK charity that supports work with children and families from marginalised Romanian communities.

Andrew visited Cirencester Kingshill School on Thursday (15th March) and was absolutely thrilled to accept the school’s unwanted uniform stock.

Andrew said: “It’s very difficult to convey how important this is to our families.

“One of our families has six children but they only have one shirt between them to share so only one child can go to school.

“This is enabling lots of children to go to school and to just go outside.

“This changes lives, it’s as simple as that.”

In total, 8 boxes of uniform were handed over and they will be shipped over to Romania in September.

The school is looking forward to hearing from Fast UK and receiving some photographs of the uniform in use.
