A FARMER from Dauntsey gave up his whole weekend to help clear up the snow around Wiltshire.

Phil Potter, 22, postponed his planned trip to the Young Farmers Weekend in Weston Super Mare, to help clear the roads with his tractor and snow plough from Friday to Saturday.

Phil, who runs the Little Middle Green Farm, worked from 8.30am to 11pm on Friday to help clear roads around Brinkworth and Malborough.

He followed that be completing a 12 hour shift on the Saturday and an easier three hour stint on Sunday.

It was a tiring weekend for the farmer but he knew he felt he had to do what was best for his community.

"I just wanted to help out," he said.

"I was supposed to go to Weston-Super-Mare but I felt that I should prioritise cleaning up the roads because I didn't want to see people stuck and in trouble.

"I had a snow plough and someone in the Tractor as well, we were busy but I was more than happy to do it and the council were grateful."
