The public exhibition that was scheduled to take place this Sunday regarding the proposed plans to upgrade the A417 in Gloucestershire has been postponed due to the weather.

The event, which was set to take place at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester, will now take place on Tuesday March 13 between 2 and 8pm at the Gloucester Guildhall, 23 Eastgate Street also in Gloucester while another public information event will take place on Thursday March 8 at Henley Bank High School in Brockworth between 12-8pm.

The exhibitions will offer more information on plans to upgrade what is known locally as the ‘missing link’ at Air Balloon roundabout. This stretch of single carriageway road between the Brockworth bypass and Cowley roundabout restricts the flow of traffic on a key route which is otherwise a continuous dual carriageway between the M5 at Gloucester and the M4 at Swindon.

Upgrading this section to dual carriageway will help unlock Gloucestershire’s potential for growth and secure opportunities for housing and jobs, as well as improving life in the adjoining local communities.

Highways England project manager, Michael Goddard, said: "We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to attend our exhibitions safely. The well-being of visitors planning to attend is paramount and we feel that rescheduling this event is the safest option.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause to those who are keen to hear more about our plans to upgrade the A417. Hopefully people will be able to attend our other event in Brockworth or join us at the rescheduled Gloucester event. Information is also available online."
