COTSWOLD District Council (CDC) has confirmed they'll will be making one of the biggest capital investments it's ever made to improve Waterloo Car Park.

The council proposed their latest Medium Term Financial Strategy for 2018/19 to 2021/22 where they'll invest £15m in car parking in Cirencester. £2.5m of that will come from the New Homes Bonus, £5m from use of capital receipts and £7.5m will be borrowed.

THE CDC also announced that they will freeze car parking prices once again at all car parks owned by the council. They've also agreed to extend the ‘free after 3pm’ parking scheme until the end of March 2019 at selected car parks across the district which includes Bourton-on-the-Water, Cirencester, Moreton-In-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Tetbury.

In Cirencester, £1m was made from parking charges in 2017, which is down from the 2015-16 figures where the CDC made £1.2m from it's car parks.

The council have reinvested money made from parking across the district on a variety of different areas such as award winning public toilets, dealing with abandoned vehicles, verge cuttings, street naming ,land drainage. and tackling environmental crime.

As well as investment in parking, the council have also set aside £300,000 to extend its network of electrical vehicle charging points around the Cotswolds.
