STUDENTS at Malmesbury school dramatised some of the Grimm brother’s most well-known fairy tales in front of a sold-out crowd.

The show that took place over three nights across January 31, February 1 and February 2 proved to be a massive hit with 400 people in attendance.

Headteacher of Malmesbury School, Tim Gilson said: "The production was highly original and creative and featured some stunning performances from the cast.

“Nearly 100 students took part with about 3/4 of them from Years 7 and 8.

“It was great to see so much depth of talent across all the year groups in the school.

“The original score really added to the drama of the piece.

“It is always lovely to sell out a show for three nights.

“I would like to thank our very creative and committed drama and music staff who make it all happen”

Many people are unaware that the original tales were much darker than the tales we know today from Disney.

Some were based upon German folklore going back as far as the 1780’s and the Grimm’s brothers as literary scholars, didn’t write them but simply wanted to preserve them and put them to print in 1812.
