A VETERAN Radio One DJ made an unexpected appearance in Cirencester this weekend.
Mike Read appeared at Arkells The Golden Cross Inn on Sunday night, as he prepares for his marathon walk in aid of Parkinson’s UK, & Kid Jensen.
The former Top of the Pops presenter is embarking on a long charity walk beginning at the source of the Thames, which is just outside Cirencester.
His old colleague and famous disc jockey friend Kid Jensen, has just announced he has Parkinson’s disease.
To show his support and solidarity he is walking the Thames from its source to Windsor, in aid of research into the disease.
He was staying with the Lord and Lady Bathurst on Sunday night before he begins his walk, so they went down to the Golden Cross Inn to gauge support.
Mike said: “It was great to meet so many Cirencester people, who have been extremely generous and thrown a few quid into the pot.”
