A WOMAN from Northleach held a CPR training session this month as one of her fundraising challenges.

Kirstie Smith, who grew up in Northleach but now lives in Moreton in Marsh, held the training session at The Westwoods Centre in Northleach on February 10.

Kirstie is currently taking on 25 challenges within a year to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of her dad Malcolm Smith.

One of her challenges was to get herself and 24 other people trained to perform CPR and trained to use a defibrillator.

Kirstie said: "The CPR session, which was run by Cotswold First Aid was amazing and so informative.

“It was great that I could get 25 people trained in CPR and it was so lovely that people.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to Cotswold First Aid for doing the session, to the team at Northleach Town Council, and The Westwoods Centre who let us use the venue for the session and to everyone who donated on the day.

“Thank you all so much."

Lisa Sheppard, who is a manager and trainer at Cotswold First Aid said: "Cotswold First Aid has been running for less than a year, so we are still growing and establishing ourselves.

“As a result, we are not able to give much to the community, but Kirstie’s challenge was unique.

“Not only did it benefit others but also helped a great cause.

“To be able to do this for Kirstie was a great privilege.”

The CPR challenge was the fourth challenge Kirstie has completed.

Kirstie is currently completing her fifth challenge, going vegetarian for a month.

Later this month Kirstie will also be doing a vow of silence challenge where she cannot speak, text or fb message for 25 hours.
