Chef Toby Refoy of The Golden Cross Inn in Cirencester, has challenged the towns other kitchen pros to a pancake flipping competition.

On Pancake Day, February 13, the confident cook will be taking on Foyez Rahman of Rajdoot and Malt and Anchor’s award winning chef Ciprian Pavlenko, both restaurants are on Cirencester’s Castle Street, in what he has dubbed a “competition of the flippest”.

Chef Toby Refoy said: “I have seen Foyez flip his crepes in his restaurant, it was this that gave me the idea for a little in town competition.

“If there are any other chefs that wish to join in then please come and join us on the evening for the ultimate Cotswold flip-off.”

Foyez Rahman added: “Toby comes in quite a bit after service for a bite to eat and we got chatting. I am delighted to take him on.”

Ciprian is also confident adding: “We have just won Best Newcomers in the National Fish and Chips Awards so I now have a taste for winning and hope to follow it up by finishing first here in Cirencester, top of the flippers.”
