A RACING driver from Malmesbury is calling for support from local businesses, as he bids to make it into Formula One.

At just 13-years-old, Louis Harvey is moving up the motor racing ladder and, ahead of the 2018 season beginning, is seeking sponsorship opportunities with Malmesbury businesses.

Last year, Louis’s prowess on the track saw him move up a class mid-way through the season and as the 2018 SuperOne Karting Championship moves closer he has already secured the backing of Malmesbury PR company SquareDuck.

The High Street firm have recognised how far Louis has come since he began driving and have designed a website to support his career.

Jemima Trussell, marketing operations director at SquareDuck, said: “We’re truly excited to be involved with Louis’s journey.

“His motivation and achievements really set him apart and all of our team are wishing Louis and his family every success for the future.”

Thanking SquareDuck, Louis explained how their support will help his career.

“I will be able to publish all my race results on my site and let everyone know where I will be racing next”, he said.

“I will also be able to share my pictures and have another place to show people who all my sponsors and supporters are.

“Without my sponsors I would not be where I am today and will not be able to move on to Formula 4, which I am hoping will be my next step in a few years. This season I am hoping to finish in the top 10 of the SuperOne series and be on the podium at some of the other national and club events.”

In addition to SquareDuck’s sponsorship, Louis has the backing of German tool manufacturers Wera Tools who provide maintenance equipment and Ideal Displays of Swindon who supply graphics and signage.

Louis is now looking for more businesses to come forward and get involved in his 2018 Karting season to help him achieve his longterm ambitions in motorsport.

He is hoping to become Malmesbury’s next top racing driver by emulating his hero James Scott Douglas who competed at an international motorsport level in the 1950s.
