There may be sleet in parts of Gloucestershire today, with dangerously high winds sweeping in tonight.

The Met Office has warned that the gales may be strong enough in places to damage buildings and endanger life from flying debris.

Some roads and pavements will turn icy later today, with an increased likelihood of some accidents and injuries.

Very strong winds tonight may affect roads and railways.

The Met Office yellow warning adds: "There is a possibility that some bridges may close. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage."

Gloucestershire Weather, the independent weather station, said there was a light dusting of snow in parts of the county overnight.

"There’s only a small chance of more today. The bigger risk today comes from wind with gusts up to 40mph expected this afternoon."
