STRATFORD Park Leisure Centre has reopened this morning after a water main burst near Stratford Park, causing it to close for the day yesterday.
Teams from Severn Trent Water worked late into the night to locate and repair the leak, with services being restored sometime before the building was due to reopen this morning.
Kieran Sinton, duty manager for Stroud Everyone Active, said: “We're pleased to annouce that we are open as usual today, following yesterday's closure."
A map provided by the water company showed a large area around Stratford Road was affected by the incident.
According to Severn Trent Water the temporary traffic lights could remain on Stratford Road for another one to two days while repairs are completed and the site is cleared.
Yesterday evening brought considerable traffic congestion on Stratford Road as crews from the water company worked hard to repair the leak during rush hour.
