A HOMEOWNER is hoping that a young driver of a silver car will come forward after knocking down a Cotswold stone wall by his house.

Martin Mullin, 43, who works for a book business, spent Christmas Eve on the phone to neighbours after he was told that his wall had been damaged.

A woman, who appeared to be in her 20s, was seen to have driven a small silver car into the sturdy stone wall in Bowling Green Road, Cirencester, at about 6.45pm on Christmas Eve.

The impact caused part of the wall to collapse.

Mr Mullin, who was first notified about the incident by neighbours, said: “It’s the morality of someone driving off.

“We weren’t at home. We were up north to see family. We found out when we were coming back from church at about 7.45pm in the evening.

“It was very very frustrating. We were trying to establish if we needed to drive 300 miles home on Christmas Eve.

“The wall’s corner makes for quite a sight. To knock a Cotswold stone wall over, you’d have to go at some pace.”

It is understood that Mr Mullin’s neighbour saw the young woman call at his door, presumably to leave a note. However, she did not leave any details.

Police would like the driver to come forward or for anyone with information about the incident to call 101 and quote incident 350 of December 24.
