A 22-YEAR-old Cirencester man was arrested on New Year's Eve after allegedly assaulting another young local man in McDonald's.

Staff at McDonald's reported the assault to police at about 7.30pm on December 31.

The victim sustained a black eye and a bloody nose.

Later that evening, at about 10.15pm, the 22-year-old was arrested in relation to the incident.

He was found to have a cut to his arm and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. However, he was arrested again on suspicion of a second assault after he allegedly kicked a member of the public while waiting to be seen at the hospital.

The man spent the remainder of New Year's Eve in custody and was later released under investigation.
