Cainscross WI: A fishy quiz

WE WERE rather depleted for our early January meeting at Cainscross, but it was hardly surprising in view of the horrible weather that evening.

We received apologies from Dot Brunning, Georgie Hall, Jane Burriss, Patsy Williams, Mandy Sutton, Tina Hewgill, Thelma Wheldon and Pam Clapp and hope to see them all again next month.

We thanked Val for her lovely table flowers of purple and white pansies which she had teamed with grey foliage and arranged in a very pretty little bowl.

After the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report, we discussed some correspondence and details of forthcoming activities.

We then settled to our Social Evening with some members carrying on with craft projects they had underway and others completing a ‘Fishy’ quiz prepared by our President Doreen.

Some answers were easier to find than others and a lot of laughter ensued over the results.

We also enjoyed refreshments with some tasty biscuits donated by some members.

The evening ended with the results of the table competition announced as:-

First - Margaret Adams and

Mary Jarrett (joint winners)

We then called the raffle and made our way home with the rain still coming down outside!

Let’s hope our next meeting, which is due to take place on Tuesday, February 6, will see some better weather for us.

The meeting will be held as usual in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Church Road, Cainscross and will start at 7.15pm.

We hope to welcome the two Sues - Sue Smith and Sue Dodd for a return visit with their talk and slideshow on ‘The Pyrenees in June’.

These ladies always give a very good talk and have some excellent slides to accompany them.

The competition will be for a favourite holiday photo.

Then on Tuesday, March 6, we have another return visit, this time from Mr David Cramp who has some excellent slides of birds with his talk on ‘Swallows, Swifts and Martins’.

You would be most welcome to join us as a visitor, or of course as a new member, and if more details are needed, please contact Mary on 01453 762812.
