IT is tragic that yet another Tesco recycling bank has been forced to close due to misuse by fly-tippers.
The town’s recycling bank had been struggling with a build-up of waste since last year due to people illegally dumping waste at the site.
After additional signage was installed and a number of successful prosecutions last year, the problem seemed to have improved, only to re-emerge in December.
Cirencester’s Tesco recycling area also closed earlier this year and Tetbury is now left with no communal recycling area.
Cotswold District Council makes a fair point that residents will still be able to recycle their rubbish via the kerbside service.
The difficulties of providing another recycling area - with cost and the suitability of an area - is understandable. But it would have been better if residents were given the option to be able to recycle larger materials by disposing them in public skips.
