Westbury.................................................. 36 Cainscross.............................................,.. 22

CAINSCROSS made the trip to Westbury looking to finish 2017 as it had started.

Some dubious navigation and an inexplicable 2.15pm kick-off led to Cainy nearly starting with 13, but with seconds to spare the full contingent took to the field to take on a boisterous Westbury side.

The first-half was disjointed at best with Westbury running in five unanswered tries.

Lesser sides would have capitulated and with Westbury going over for another try after five minutes of the second-half, the writing was on the wall.

Cainscross dug deep and looked to leave with something from the game, manfully led by the ever present Pollard, who was first to go over from short range to give Cainy a morale boost.

The score was far away but buoyed by the try Cainy pushed deep into the Westbury half by a raking kick by Vallender and the driving maul took them close to the line with Dave Bow returning and going over in the corner. Bow scored a second and the conversion was stroked over.

Westbury were becoming fractious, Cainy were building in confidence with Voyce and Wall prominent.

Pollard went over for his second and Cainy were making a fist of it.

The Chris Mills Memorial game takes place on Boxing Day, 11am.

The club bar will be open from noon.
