MEMBERS and guests at a golf club have helped to raise more than £8,000 for a cancer charity following a year of fundraising.

Cotswold Hills Golf Club at Ullenwood, Cheltenham, presented a cheque for £8,386.00 to CLIC Sargent, a charity that provides support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Alan Taylor, Cotswold Hills club captain, chose CLIC Sargent as his charity for his year in office, as a family member, nine-year-old Joseph Breland, died earlier this year from cancer.

Caroline Marshall, fundraiser for CLIC Sargent, said: “It is absolutely incredible that the golfers and guests at Cotswold Hills Golf Cub have been able to raise over £8,000 through a wonderful year of fundraising events. I would like to thank everyone involved for their generosity and for ensuring that young lives facing cancer have the vital support of CLIC Sargent.”

Fay Bennett, grandmother of Joseph Breland, thanked Alan Taylor for choosing CLIC Sargent as his charity for this year, and thanked Caroline for all the support CLIC had given to her family.

“From Day One to the day Joseph died, CLIC was there, every step of the way, giving practical, emotional and medical support, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Every day eleven families are given the news that their child has cancer. By supporting this charity, those families will be able to benefit from the care and support they so desperately need.
