GLOUCESTERSHIRE police are warning home and business owner to remain vigilant following a spate of burglaries in the Stroud district.

In recent weeks there have been several break-ins and cases of vandalism, perhaps most noticeably at the Alyce Rogers Salon in London Road, Stroud when thieves caused more than £3,000 worth of damage and spread dog mess around.

Other incidents included attempted break-in at the Co-operative food store in King’s Stanley, a stolen cash machine at SGS College and alcohol being taken from The Marshall Rooms.

Inspector Sarah Blake has sent the following: “Christmas especially, is a time to be vigilant around protecting our homes and businesses.

“Offenders will take advantage of the darker evening and the potential for increased valuables in the home.

“The Operation Switch campaign is still active and home and business owners should ensure they do all they can to deter would be thieves.

“Burglary is taken very seriously by the constabulary and all investigation leads will be followed up on.

“If you have any concerns around the security of your home or business please speak with your local PCSO and request a security review.”

Police are asking anyone who sees any suspicious behaviour to report it to 101 or 999 in an emergency.
