A POPULAR commercial photographer has moved his business closer to Stroud town centre.

Carl Hewlett, director and photographer of Stand Out Studio, made the move to a more central location after setting up the business at Bond's Mill, Stonehouse last July.

The new studio is located at The Old Convent in Beeches Green and is now home to several small businesses.

“There are a few other creative business owners who have made The Old Convent their home,” said Carl, 29, who resides in Stonehouse.

“With the studio located in an impressive building full of character and history, the business really does stand out.

“I've lived in the Stroud District since I was just three-years-old so being close to the town centre is a huge comfort.”

Several companies working in the creative industries have set up at The Old Convent including video editors and sound recordists.

“Working in a space with other creatives is really beneficial to a small business owner such as myself, said Carl.

“When working on a project it's great to bounce ideas around and learn from the experiences of others.

“It is also a good way of networking and getting in touch with prospective clients.”

Now he has moved to a more central location, Carl is hoping to work more closely with business owners across the Stroud district.

He said: “Our county is full of exciting new SMEs and independent traders trying to promote their brand.

“I'd like to work closer with these businesses to provide photography services that are more competitively priced in comparison to some of the big photo agencies and marketing firms.

“In this day and age stock imagery is an easy way of illustrating a brochure or website but it's also very generic and doesn't add any real identity to your marketing material.

“A session with a professional photographer will give a range of options unique to that business and will provide more mileage than using stock images.

Stand Out Studio offers photography to commercial clients including PR, lifestyle, fashion and e-commerce and more traditional services such as portraiture and family groups.
