AN award winning microbrewery in Cirencester is preparing to celebrate its fifth birthday next weekend.

Corinium Ales will be celebrating the milestone with beer, cake and a quiz with prizes on Saturday, November 25 during the Cirencester Farmers Market.

Colin Knight, Head Brewer said: “We are very proud to be five years strong and very grateful to all our customers for helping us get this far.

“To show our appreciation and to mark the occasion we’ll have beer, cake and a short Corinium Ales quiz at the Farmers’ Market and at our brewery for all our customers to enjoy and the chance to win some beer related prizes.”

The microbrewing business was launched at the Cirencester Farmers Market in November 2012 and moved out of the home based garage brewery in 2016, to a unit at the Old Kennels in Cirencester Park.

Lucy Cordrey, Director and Brewer at Corinium Ales said: “It was a cold drizzly day when we launched with two Roman Centurions by our side and we haven’t looked back since.

“The market was and still is a very important outlet for us. Local community initiatives, such as the Phoenix Festival, are also extremely key to us. It’s been brilliant and challenging and we remain excited about the future.”

The brewery's popular Christmas beer Saturnalia, made with a sprinkling of spices and orange peel will be on offer. It is named after the ancient Roman pagan festival held in honour of the deity Saturn.

To join in the celebrations, go along to the market from 9am-2.30pm or the brewery between 2-4pm.
