GOOD maintenance and a large variety of vegetables at two plots at a Dursley allotments site has seen two people share a competition's prizes.

Dursley in Bloom launched a competition earlier this year so see who could create the best allotment in the new site at the Vale Hospital.

With nothing to separate the growing efforts of both Adrian Jordan and Denise Walker, a decision was made to choose joint winners.

The allotments, which are all raised beds, are available to rent or can be free as part of the gardening on prescription scheme available through doctors.

Managed by Down to Earth, in conjunction with Stroud District Council, the £27,000 40 plot-allotment development is the brainchild of Dursley GP Dr Simon Opher.

The Vale Allotment site will be included in the route when the Royal Horticultural Society judges visit the town next summer as part of the Britain in Bloom competition.
