Forest Green Rover LFC 1-3 Marine Academy Plymouth LFC

FOREST Green Rovers LFC were defeated 3-1 at home by Marine Academy Plymouth LFC, despite taking the lead in the first half.

FGR started the game with high intensity and pace, instantly putting the Marines under pressure.

They were attacking from both wings, as well as holding most of the possession in midfield. A number of missed opportunities saw the score line stay 0-0 for much of the first half.

After 31 minutes, Issy Newns finally broke the deadlock, scoring a fantastic goal from outside of the box straight into the top corner. FGR 1 - 0 MAP.

Forest Green slowed the game down but continued to attack. Plymouth broke through midfield on the counter, and FGR gave away a free kick from a handball just inside their defending half.

A good ball from Plymouth saw some awkward defending and the ball rolled straight into the back of the goal for the equaliser after 40 minutes. FGR 1 - 1 MAP.

Shortly after, Plymouth looked like they'd scored again but the goal was disallowed following an offside decision.

The second half started with the same intensity as the first but the possession was split more evenly between the two sides.

In the 50th minute FGR gave away a free-kick just outside of their box. The Marines took full advantage of this and scored straight from the kick, putting them ahead. FGR 1-2MAP 

In the 73rd minute, the Marines had a one-on-one with the keeper, earning themselves a penalty from a late challenge.

The penalty was taken well and the Marines earned themselves another goal.

Final score FGR 1 - 3 MAP.
