THE NHS has launched its Stay Well This Winter campaign in the South West.

Working in partnership with Public Health England, the campaign is aimed at encouraging eligible people to ensure that they take-up their free flu vaccination.

Those now eligible for the free flu vaccination are children aged two to eight years old, people aged 65 and over, pregnant women and those with long term health conditions.

The programme is aiming to reduce the risk of the flu and complications associated with it.

The Chief Medical Officer has warned that the flu is causing 8,000 deaths on average a year in England.

Jenny Harris Deputy Director at Public Health England said: “I would urge eligible people in the South West to help keep the most vulnerable in the region well and to avoid unnecessary hospital visits by making sure they are vaccinated.”

To book a vaccination or to find out if you are eligible, contact your GP, pharmacist or midwife.
