A THIEF armed with a small axe reportedly forced a shop assistant at a Cirencester store to hand over £200 during a daylight raid.
Police have begun a manhunt after the armed robbery at Beeches Shop on Upper Churnside at around 3pm on Saturday (September 23).
It has been reported that trainee manager Danny Barker-Close was forced by the offender to put the money into a bag.
The man is described as being around five feet eight inches tall, and was allegedly wearing a surgical mask and sunglasses and a blue hoodie.
The incident comes just weeks after the shop was broken into and alcohol was stolen.
On Wednesday, a man with a small axe raided Chesterton Stores, taking the whole till, while an axe-wielding man reportedly raided Chalford Village Shop near Stroud on Friday at around midday.
Anyone with information regarding Saturday's incident is urged to call 101, quoting incident 307 of September 23.
