A WOMAN who kicked and spat at police officers has been fined.

Swindon magistrates heard that Chloe Anne Morgan, 26, formerly of Wilmot Close, Cricklade, had spent the day drinking at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

Prosecutor Keith Ballinger said: “She had been drinking most of the day and she returned to her mother’s address.”

Morgan, who has previously been convicted of assault while under the influence of alcohol, was described as being “in an aggressive mood” when she got home.

Police were called and attempted to arrest Morgan for public order offences.

She lashed out at officers, attempting to kick an officer in the shin. She also tried to spit at another police officer.

Morgan pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting a police officer.

Defending, Mark Glendenning said his client “has made her apologies to those officers through me”.

The court heard that she had been receiving treatment for an alcohol problem, following a conviction for assault earlier this summer.

Mr Glendenning said: “She has not had a drink since the last time she was in court.”

Chairman of the bench Gail Chilcott said: “We are not going to order compensation on this occasion for the police officers. We do not believe it was intentional.”

Instead, magistrates ordered Morgan to pay £200 in fines, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
