HOT on the heels of March's sell-out performances of Into the Woods, Theatre Ink is back at The Barn Theatre in Cirencester.

This time, they have moved from dark fantasy to a vintage comedy, with Burt Bacharach’s Promises, Promises.

The show is based on the 1960 film The Apartment starring the infamous Jack Lemon and Shirley MacLaine. With book by Neil Simon and lyrics by Hal David, this funny production features some of Burt Bacharach’s most internationally renowned numbers including Say A Little Prayer and I'll Never Fall in Love Again.

The story follows Chuck Baxter, an ambitious employee of Consolidated Life Insurance Company on his way up. As a bachelor, Chuck has what some of his colleagues desire: an apartment for hanky-panky.

With the promise of promotion dangled before him, Chuck lends these senior executives his place for their extramarital trysts. As they get access to his place for their affairs, Chuck gets the key to his aspirations—and a rung on the corporate ladder.

But Chuck becomes more than a little conflicted when he learns that Fran Kubelik, the object of his affection, is the mistress of his boss, JD Sheldrake - the man who holds the key to both Chuck’s flat and his future.

Theatre Ink have well and truly settled in to The Barn Theatre and have built a reputation of putting on new and exciting productions that are a spectacle for the eyes and ears.

Promises, Promises is no exception, with colourful costume, set, a fantastic production team and an oustanding cast.

Burt Bacharach’s Promises, Promises will be performed Thursday, September 21-Saturday, September 23.
