Cirencester 5 Chipping Norton 2
FOLLOWING a defeat to Broadway the previous Friday, Cirencester's seniors team wanted to bounce back with a victory over Chipping Norton and did so convincingly by 5-2.

There were notable wins for David Soar & David Lowbridge (7&5), John Appleby & Ian Perry (5&4), Eric Varcoe & Adrian Ruskell (3&1) as well as Graham Morgan & Emrys Williams (2&1).

Half-points were earned by Mike Helyer & Martin Taylor and Ray Russell & Martin Harrison.

Inter-Services Texas Scramble

ANOTHER beautiful summer's day at Cirencester Golf Club saw 36 seniors playing a Texas Scramble on the annual Inter-Services day which is held in support of forces charities.

The winning team with a score of 62 was Nigel Curtis/Roger Randall/David Purkis.

They were followed closely by Evan Jarrett/Ken Anderson/Jeff Slater on 63 and the organiser's team of Keith Hodgson/Terry McQuirk /Jim Waddell with a score of 66.

Five other teams also scored 66 points, the final placings being determined on countback.

The golf was followed by an excellent meal and then some interesting and extremely funny little "ditties" from the various ex-forces personnel present.
