Malmesbury Vics 3 Chippenham Park 0

MALMESBURY VICS bounced back in style from Saturday's disappointing result at Warminster by breezing past near-neighbours Chippenham Park 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

Chippenham had started the campaign well with two wins and a draw (with no goals conceded) coming into the game and they started the brighter in the first 15 minutes.

However Vics soaked up the pressure and found themselves in front on 19 minutes when left back Josh Russell played a superb 1-2 with Andy Baker who was upended close to the edge of the box.

Ant Brown then curled a delicious free kick against the post and in the ensuing goalmouth scramble Kieran Jones smashed home his first goal of the season. One became two very quickly when Baker's cross shot was nodded in from close range by Jamie Packer.

Vics then turned the screw and could have been four or five up at the break.

In the second half Vics defended stoutly to keep Park at bay, the back four in particular were superb and Adam Clatworthy only had one save of any note to make.

Packer was again unlucky not to score when his volley from outside the box was superbly tipped around the post.

However, Vics wrapped up the game seven minutes from time when Jones burst through the Park defence to slot low under the keeper – his second goal of the night.

A great all-round performance including notable individual displays from Brown, Jones and Matty Jenkins up front who worked tirelessly all evening.

Malmesbury Vics: Clatworthy, Kendall, Russell, N Jones, Brown, Peare, Packer, Hext, Jenkins, K Jones, Baker. Subs: Reynolds, Sinclair, Tranter.
